Mechanism
We store the medication in a rotating array of compartments inside the dispenser. To extract medication from a compartment, the section is rotated to the front where the extracting mechanism is located.
We opted to extract the medication using a suction gripper: A thin nozzle which the objects are sucked onto.This mechanism allows the dispenser to handle medicine in a wide variety of shapes and sizes with little risk of crushing or contamination. (One downside compared to other methods is the loud compressor which is required)
Medication is dropped into an arm which is lowered once the batch of medication is complete. This arm can also lower down compartments out of the mechanism to be refilled by the user.
When you press the refill button on the app, the small part positioned on the top of the dispenser will automatically slide inward. This part allows access to one specific compartment, allowing users refill right compartment.
Material/Sustainability
To create an environmentally friendly product, we have adopted a closed loop approach. Our aim is to minimise environmental impact and reduce medication waste. By introducing a rental system and closely tracking our equipment, we can easily implement a circular lifecycle.
Our dispensers are designed for easy disassembly, which improves repairability and recycling. When a customer's subscription ends, the dispenser is returned to our assembly facility. Worn parts are replaced and used parts are returned to the manufacturer for recycling. This eliminates the need to sort or separate materials for recycling.
If a dispenser is beyond repair, we dismantle it and recycle its components as much as possible. We ensure that each part goes through appropriate recycling processes to maximise resource recovery and minimise waste.
